The seminar was jointly organized by the School of Medicine & Nursing and the First Affiliated Hospital of Huzhou Normal University. Vice President Lou Jianlin attended the seminar, together with relevant officials and experts from the Graduate School, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of New Energy and Materials, School of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing, and School of Life Sciences & School of Fisheries.
Lou Jianlin spoke highly of the outcomes of the seminar and put forward four requirements for the next stage of work. First, the University should improve coordination mechanisms by establishing regular mechanisms for consultation, joint project applications, and the sharing of research outcomes. Second, it should identify key areas for collaboration, pool strengths and resources, focus on clearly defined priorities, and address pressing clinical challenges. Third, it should strengthen the talent pool by promoting closer collaboration among faculty members, joint supervision, dual appointments, and cross-school joint training of postgraduate students, and build a multidisciplinary team with an understanding of clinical needs and expertise in science and engineering. Fourth, it should make sustained efforts, recognize the long-term nature of medical research and discipline development, maintain strategic focus and policy continuity, and ensure the effective implementation of collaborative initiatives.
Participants held in-depth discussions on the development of key clinical specialties, interdisciplinary integration of medicine and engineering, and preparations for establishing a doctoral program in nursing. Representatives from the participating schools also shared their respective disciplinary strengths and previous experience in collaboration with the medical field.
The seminar was held to further implement the University’s 15th Five-Year Plan for Discipline Development, promote deeper interdisciplinary integration between medicine and science and engineering, and accelerate the development of key clinical specialties and the enhancement of research and innovation capacity. Going forward, Huzhou Normal University will continue to prioritize discipline development and deepen the integration of medicine with engineering, science, and information technology, injecting stronger impetus into the development of regional healthcare and the health industry.
