On September 9, Huzhou Normal University held an unveiling ceremony for three newly established engineering schools. Members of the University leadership attended the ceremony, together with heads of functional departments and directly affiliated units, heads of schools and the First Affiliated Hospital of Huzhou Normal University, members of the leadership teams and heads of offices within the newly established schools, and student representatives. The ceremony was presided over by President Sheng Kuang.

Vice President Lou Jianlin read out the University’s document on the restructuring of its teaching units, while Zhang Guoying, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, read out the decisions on the appointment and removal of officials of the newly established schools.

Xu Huixia, Secretary of the University Party Committee, and Sheng Kuang, President of the University, jointly unveiled the plaques of the three new schools with the heads of the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of New Energy and Materials, and the School of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing, respectively.

Xu Huixia extended warm congratulations on the official establishment of the three new schools. She noted that the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent has become a key driver of high-quality development in the new era, while science and engineering disciplines provide important support for technological innovation and industrial upgrading. She called on the new schools to align high-quality Party building with high-quality development, focus on cutting-edge fields and develop distinctive disciplinary strengths, and promote development through deeper integration of industry and education and stronger university-local cooperation. She added that the University would provide comprehensive support for the development of the new schools, enabling faculty members to better pursue their work and careers and supporting students in their growth and development. She also called on all faculty members and students to cherish the new platforms, shoulder their new responsibilities, and work together to build high-level schools of science and engineering with distinctive strengths and a strong capacity to serve local development, thereby contributing to the University’s high-quality development.

Lou Jungang, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, said that the School would remain committed to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Taking the unveiling as a new starting point, the School will embrace its new positioning, shoulder its responsibilities, and pursue a new path of development. It will focus on strengthening its disciplines, pursue excellence and make breakthroughs in key areas; deepen the integration of industry and education to better serve local development and support the growth of local industries; and strengthen the cultivation of high-caliber talent while upholding fundamental principles, pursuing innovation, and improving the quality and effectiveness of its work. Through these efforts, the School will strive to open a new chapter in its high-quality development.

Tang Peisong, Dean of the School of New Energy and Materials, said that the School would remain committed to fostering virtue through education and cultivating high-caliber engineering talent, pool its strengths to build on its disciplinary advantages, deepen university-local integration to support local development, and focus on Huzhou’s “1366” industrial system. It will closely align its development with the local new energy and new materials industrial chains and establish an integrated talent development model encompassing industry professors, corporate vice presidents for science and technology, the professional development of young PhDs, and student practical training and internships. The School will strive to become a model of new engineering development featuring mutual support and coordinated progress between the University and the local community, while providing local enterprises with high-quality professional talent.

Liu Yuanyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing, said that the School would strengthen Party leadership and build collective momentum for development, consolidate the foundation for growth around its disciplinary positioning, promote the integrated development of education, scientific research, and talent cultivation, and serve the broader needs of industry. Closely aligned with Huzhou’s “1366” modern industrial system, the School will proactively respond to the needs of key industrial chains, including intelligent equipment and robotics and the low-altitude economy, and focus on cultivating application-oriented engineering talent capable of meeting the needs of local industries, thereby providing stable technical support and a steady supply of talent for regional industrial development.
